JOHN YOUNGHUSBAND, P.E.
PRESIDENT
John has over thirty years of building and fire code consulting and fire protection engineering experience.
He specializes in developing creative code compliance solutions and smoke control system designs using his extensive knowledge of the building and fire codes, fire protection engineering science, and his strong relationships with local Building and Fire officials.
John is also the author of the Smoke Management chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Reference/Answer Manual for the P.E. Exam in Fire Protection, 3rd Edition.
Our team has strong relationships with approving agencies that help you achieve your design objectives in a timely manner.
Steve has over nineteen years of code consulting and fire protection engineering experience.
His areas of expertise include the development of fire strategies, code compliance reviews/inspections, automatic fire sprinkler system design, hazardous materials consulting and accessibility reviews.
In addition, he gained considerable knowledge in fire alarm and smoke management system design and function.
STEVE TOLLINGTON

Tim has 25 years of experience in the plastics blow molding manufacturing industry, where he provided quality control inspections, equipment setup and adjustments to meet safety and quality standards, and performed plant operations management.
At YCI, Tim is responsible for acceptance testing of smoke control systems for new and existing high-rise buildings and atrium buildings.

After earning her degree in Architecture from Cebu Institute of Technology-University, Mae entered the designing world. She spent 4 years gaining experience in the Philippines as an architectural designer, moved to Dubai, and worked for an engineering consulting firm as an architect for over 8 years.
She then joined the fire and life safety division of a multidisciplinary engineering firm and was involved with developing fire and life safety strategies for a multitude of fascinating buildings throughout the Middle East region.
Mae supports YCI with all CAD works, CONTAM model preparation, fire/life safety drawing preparation (i.e., exiting plans) and support with any documents associated with the smoke control reports, etc. (i.e., smoke zone plans and passive barrier test reports).

With over 21 years of customer service experience, Auriel has been with YCI for 5 years and serves as our Operations Manager.
As Operations Manager, Auriel helps promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale. She makes important policy, planning, and strategy decisions.

Courtney has spent the last 13 years working in the entertainment industry. Not only has she worked in digital marketing, but she also has experience in management, artist relations, and radio. Not to mention, she is a singer/songwriter herself! Courtney serves as our social media strategist and is in charge of all YCI social media platforms.

Katy Gordon grew up in Las Vegas, NV and attended the University of Las Vegas. She graduated in 2008 with a Communications degree.
After college, she moved to Colorado and worked in the hospitality industry. After Colorado, she moved to Southern California and continued to work in the field of customer service and management.
Katy joined Younghusband Consulting, Inc. for a new challenge in using her existing skills. She is married and has two daughters and two dogs.

Luke Wells is an Environmental Management and Protection major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
He is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree, enjoys surfing and competes on the Cal Poly Surf Team.
Luke loves to travel and has been to Brazil, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Mexico and plans to study abroad in Spain in the fall.

Kate Kwasny is a SoCal native who enjoys trips to the desert, live concerts, and LA Kings hockey, GKG!
She earned her graduate’s degree from CSULA and ventured into the working world with positions in h
ospitality, event coordination, and property management.
Kate’s most recent skill is property management accounting where she works full-time at a consulting firm based in Santa Monica.
She’s also the newest addition to the YCI Team!
Kate is looking forward to learning YCI’s philosophy and meeting everyone in the days to come.

Mateo is a recent graduate of St. John Bosco High School where he graduated Cum Laude.
In addition to his studies, he was a four-year varsity basketball player.
He is now a sophomore at California State University Long Beach studying Construction Management Engineering and is in the honors program.
He looks forward to joining the YCI team for his second summer as an intern.
